Anyone who has frequented the sleepy Lisbon suburb of Dafundo knows Manel. He lives on the streets, parks cars, and looks after the neighbourhood. Contrary to what is often attributed to the homeless, Manel is neither invisible nor anonymous. Told through chatty neighbourhood gossip and intimate anecdotes, this short documentary about one man’s personal history pieces together a rich mosaic of Dafundo’s collective memory, weaving the tragi-comic life of this famed local with the spirit of a typical and united community.
